WJ Groundwater launches effective new H&S process

WJ Groundwater has introduced a new Health & Safety (H&S) initiative across its sites called The WJ CARE Card – Committed Aim to Raise Expectations of our staff and clients.

The objective behind the card is to encourage our staff to keep H&S at the forefront everytime they embark on a new task.  The CARE card is available for front line WJ operatives to keep a note of any improvements that can be made to processes in order to avoid accidents – also to be able to increase the effectiveness of existing processes.

UK Update: Construction News Awards Update

Richard Fielden, Mark Pickett, Gary Holmes and Neil Coulter attended the 20th Construction News Awards held at the Grosvenor Hotel on 14 July 2016 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

WJ Groundwater was been named as a finalist in the category Specialist Contractor of the Year (turnover up to £100m). Unfortunately, they were beat to the top spot this year.

Richard cycles 300 miles to raise money for Keep the Beat

On the 2nd of July, WJ Groundwater’s Richard Fielden (Managing Director) cycled 300 miles with the Keep the Beat Cycling Team to raise money for the Leicester Royal Infirmary Heart Unit at Glenfield.

This year the cycle challenge was to complete a 300 mile long journey in 24 hours. The starting point was The Anchor Pub in Burbage at 7am (nr. Hinckley in Leicestershire) ending at Watergate Bay (just north of Newquay in Cornwall). The team were given a great send off.

UK Update – M74 Raith Interchange Project – part 2

The M74 Raith Interchange is part of a transport improvement scheme located in Scotland. Our client on this project is Ferrovial Lagan Joint Venture (FLJV) on behalf of Transport Scotland.

The first M74 project update appears in Issue 29 of The Wet End (available now from UK office!)

UK Project Update – Windermere Jetty – Phase 2 Completed

Both Phases 1 & 2 of the redevelopment of the Windermere Steam Boat Museum are now complete. The aim is to create a series of new buildings, at its shore side location on Lake Windermere, to house the exhibits, a conservation workshop and a new visitor centre.

WJ Groundwater completed the drilling and installation of the dewatering applications for Phase 1 in March 2016. Read our earlier blog.

New Generators for WJ Groundwater’s Fleet

WJ Groundwater is pleased to announce the purchase of  to our fleet. The 150 kva, high spec generators are equipped with cutting edge technology including GSM trackers and data loggers. The latter is designed to remotely sense mechanical faults service time and are en-route to a major project.  

The new generators are fitted with the latest diesel engines capable of generating very low emission levels and a low level of noise output measuring 69DBa. The generators will first see some action on our M74 project in Scotland.
