Rare are the sports where professional athletes compete against amateurs. A football match between Manchester United and that local middle-aged Dad’s team is virtually unheard of, yet in the world of cycling this does happen. The Tour of Sharjah that takes place in the UAE is one such event where this occurs. It is a battle between David and Goliath, only here, Goliath is guaranteed to win.
Once again, WJ Groundwater-sponsored Team Frankie’s formed a motivated squad of talented amatueur cyclists. In-house members counted: Levi Angelo Denys, David Williams, Youcef (Paul) Cummings, Neil and Richard who were joined by guest rider Bader Thani, the former Arabian Sprint Champion.
WJ Groundwater is excited to announce that it has opened a new office in Scotland. The new base signifies our growing commitment to the Scottish construction industry and to reinforce our presence in the region after a successful run of projects.
The new expansion is part of WJ Groundwater’s ongoing strategy to grow the brand, taking it to new and existing customers within a growing number of domestic and international construction markets. Client confidence will be enhanced with this move because it demonstrates that WJ Groundwater will continue to be the dewatering expert of choice, and that we’re here to stay.
WJ Groundwater now has a Facebook page. Please follow us and click ‘like’ for regular news updates from each of our offices.
You can find out more about our dewatering projects and other industry specialities as they happen. We will also be including updates about our triumphs and endeavours on and off-site, whether they are at conferences, trade fairs or charity sporting events.
WJ-sponsored cycling team Team Frankie’s continue their quest for road domination. Middle East Director, Paul Turner is a stalwart of the team and was instrumental in setting up the sponsorship deal between Team Frankie’s and WJ Groundwater. There are a number of keen cyclists in the company including WJ’s Managing Director, Richard Fielden. Check out our extensive article in Issue 27 of our in-house magazine, The Wet End, here.
Ever keen to support diversity in the dewatering industry, WJ Groundwater was very interested to learn about this annual event. Entitled National Women In Engineering Day 2015 (NWED), the aim of the occasion is to celebrate the work that females have achieved in engineering, and to showcase the great careers that are available for girls at school or higher education.
Members of WJ Groundwater were amongst 700 plus people gathered at the Park Lane Hilton in London on 23rd June to hear the winners of the 2015 GE Awards announced.
WJ were keen to attend as the event always serves as a great way to catch up with industry contemporaries and key customers. It’s also an effective way of getting WJ’s name seen by the main ‘movers and shakers’ in the ground engineering industry.
