read moreOn the 10th of May, WJ Groundwater’s Director (Overseas) Paul Turner attended a MEED Breakfast Event entitled, The Outlook for GCC Construction and Projects. The idea behind the event was to share ideas where ‘Chatham House Rules’ have been invoked. For those curious, the rules were invented in order to encourage open discussion on any matters without the speaker having to go ‘on record’. In effect, information is shared freely but the speaker can remain anonymous and uncredited if the speech is documented.

WJ Groundwater’s Chairman Dr Toby Roberts is a keynote speaker at the DFI Middle East Conference 2016 (Deep Foundations Institute) at the American University, Dubai on 11-12 May.
The bi-annual event provides a great opportunity for dewatering experts, geotechnical engineers and industry academics to network, and fact share. There is also a series of talks and demonstrations. Each year the conference revolves around a different theme. This year it is ‘Value Engineering in Geotechnical Practice – Application and Case Histories’.

Qatar Update: Paul Turner attends UK-Lusail Day
WJ Groundwater March 17, 2016WJ Groundwater’s Middle East Director, Paul Turner recently attended the excellent UK-Lusail Day event. Taking place on the 1st of March at the Lusail Real Estate Development Company Headquarters the well-atttended meeting was organised by UK Trade and Investment (UKTI).
Paul was able to meet with several key decision makers to learn more about the ongoing construction of Lusail City. He was lucky enough to spend some time with the Construction Director of Infrastructure for Lusail too.

WJ Groundwater February 25, 2016WJ Groundwater’s Toby Roberts was one of three speakers at a well-attended Groundwater Control In Urban Areas conference organised jointly by the Geological Society Engineering Group and British Geotechnical Association. The event was a part of the celebration of a Year of Water and was focused on dewatering. Toby was one of the experts invited to speak about the groundwater control in cities and its challenges – including increasingly restricted locations and potential impacts arising from the interaction of dewatering and urban environments. The three speakers explored the subject using examples of recent dewatering projects in the London Basin.
Toby gave a presentation concerning dewatering and depressurisation strategies used to target the Lambeth Group Channel Sands for the tunnel works in London.
