WJ Groundwater is major sponsor of Ground Engineering’s 2015 ‘Piling and Foundations Conference’
On the 23rd of April, WJ Groundwater’s Richard Fielden, Mark Pickett, James Southwell and Gary Holmes attended the ‘Piling and Foundations Conference’ at the Bloomsbury Hotel in London.
The event is an annual industry forum where key clients, contractors and engineers can network and learn about up-and-coming projects and legislation changes.
WJ Groundwater sponsored the event in conjunction with EMaP to raise industry awareness of its ever-growing significant presence amongst site investigation and dewatering companies. It is the first time WJ has sponsored a major industry event of this kind and it hope to increase its involvement in future years.
“The event is a great opportunity to meet up with customers and enjoy a few days of good networking. The Bloomsbury Hotel is an excellent venue for this type of conference,” said Managing Director, Richard Fielden.
“We were treated to some fascinating talks from experts from all parts of our industry on some very important and up-to-date matters. We all thought that United Utilities and HS2 gave stand-out presentations,” added Technical Director, Gary Holmes.
The chairman of the Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS), Martin Blower presented a particularly relevant and engaging talk about how the industry can benefit from more diversity by finding ways to attract more women into the trade. This struck a chord with WJ because it’s a matter that’s close to its hearts as it’s aiming to increase its support of national endeavours like the Women’s Engineering Society’s National Women In Engineering Day.
