WJ Groundwater in the Middle East has passed a significant milestone by completing 2 Million Safe Man-Hours Without Lost Time Incidents (LTI).
To celebrate this admirable achievement, dual staff events were held at WJ Groundwater’s bases in Dubai (UAE) and Doha (Qatar) at the end of December.
Senior WJ Groundwater management were in attendance at both to present at the ceremonies arranged to recognise team members that have repeatedly demonstrated their ability to give exemplary performances whilst adhering to safety practices in the workplace.
Dedicated to Safety
“It is a great honour and privilege to be celebrating this achievement. WJ Groundwater may have faced some challenges but the challenges have never hindered or stopped us reaching this 2 million safe man-hours landmark,” said Paul Turner (Overseas Director). “This success would not have been possible without the ongoing attention to occupational safety and commitment to each other by every single one of our team members. Let’s continue to enforce our company’s motto in the workplace – ‘Dedicated to Safety’”.
In Dubai
Dr Toby Roberts (Chairman), Paul Turner (Overseas Director) and John Paul Alookoram (Operations Manager) delivered a series of inspiring speeches acknowledging the team work of all employees and asking them to keep up the safe working practices.
Further credit goes to WJ Groundwater’s Safety Team lead by Steve Cooke with Safety Engineers; Lias Poulose and Steve Titus, who, with their hard work and dedication, proved time and again that WJ Groundwater is ‘Dedicated to Safety’, at all costs.
In Doha
A congratulatory speech was orated to the Doha team in three different languages (English, Tamil and Hindi) by Paul, Govindaswamy Shankar (Operations Manager) and Bony Peter (HSE Manager) to ensure that everybody was included in the WJ Groundwater messages to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.
To round up proceedings, WJ Groundwater’s Noel Melendez (Project Manager) and Allan Calpito (Technical Manager) gave closing addresses to remind everybody that work safety is of the utmost priority, not just for the benefit of the workforce, but also for the wellbeing of the families of its workforce. He also encouraged the whole team to continue to keep each other safe from harm and to keep up the great work.
Team excellence
Exceptional team members were presented with Safe Workplace Representative Award Certificates plus further incentives. A panel jury selected those awarded based on a variety of measures including good work practice and a very positive attitude towards safety in the workplace.
All of the staff were also given freshly printed WJ Groundwater t-shirts and baseball caps to wear that had been especially designed and crafted to celebrate the occasion including senior management.
