And the winner is…
Members of WJ Groundwater were amongst 700 plus people gathered at the Park Lane Hilton in London on 23rd June to hear the winners of the 2015 GE Awards announced.
WJ were keen to attend as the event always serves as a great way to catch up with industry contemporaries and key customers. It’s also an effective way of getting WJ’s name seen by the main ‘movers and shakers’ in the ground engineering industry.
This year’s conference was a lot of fun. WJ has worked closely with the majority of nominees recently on many of the projects included in the award categories, so we knew we had to be at the right event!
The MC for the night was comedian Simon Evans who was very funny and tailored his act for engineers keeping the content lively. His opening comments went down a storm. He was also retained to help introduce the myriad of technical awards on offer. To view the full list of award categories click here.
“The entries this year clearly demonstrate the huge impact the UK ground engineering profession continues to have, not just on the UK market, but also the global infrastructure sector,” said GE Editor Claire Smith.
“We would like to extend our congratulations to all the winners, many of whom we’ve worked with in the recent past, on winning in their various categories,” said WJ Managing Director, Richard Fielden.
This year’s event had an expanded panel of judges across a wide spectrum of backgrounds from industry, contractors, academia from across the geotechnical sector and its supply chain. The results were decided upon live as opposed to being in advance. This allowed the judges to grill candidates for details and facts submitted in their written applications making the proceedings a lot more interactive and enjoyable to watch.
WJ hopes to be nominated in some categories come 2016’s event and will certainly be in attendance to network and cement some great industry relationships.
