WJ Groundwater has commenced dewatering works on a new underpass that will run beneath the M74 Raith Interchange near Glasgow.
The project is part of a massive £1 billion upgrade of the motorway network to the east and south east of Glasgow and is due to end in about 12 months time.

Richard Fielden and Paul Judge recently attended ‘Aqua 2015 – the 42nd International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) Conference in Rome, Italy.
They were both invited as representatives of the British Drilling Association (BDA) at the 3rd Annual European Groundwater and Wells Association (EGA) meeting on 18 September, which was a part of the larger event at The University Sapienza. Join us at the Digital Data in Geotechnics and Construction seminar at the National Space Centre in Leicester on 8 October organised by the British Drilling Association (BDA).
The BDA is the UK’s trade association for the ground drilling industry. The seminar speakers will talk about the benefits of and getting the most from Building Information Modelling (BIM) as an aid to ‘knowledge management’ in construction. You will also hear more about how the digital data produced by the geotechnical sector can interact with BIM systems, focussing on what is possible these days, and what is likely to happen in the near future.

Equipment Quickie:
WJ Groundwater (Middle East) has purchased a booster station The technology has been put to work on the Dubai Canal Extension Project. It can pump up to 600 l/s and it is currently feeding off approximately 100 No. deepwells along the course of the Canal. It thrusts the water down a 630mm diameter discharge line 2km to the sea. The station box includes automated monitoring and in-line flow meters on each pump.

WJ staff and clients have had two papers accepted at the XVI European Conference for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering being held in Edinburgh on 13 – 17 September at ICC. The first paper was to be presented by WJ Groundwater’s chairman, Toby Roberts and the second by Emilio Linde from OTB Engineering.
