Richard cycles 300 miles to raise money for Keep the Beat

On the 2nd of July, WJ Groundwater’s Richard Fielden (Managing Director) cycled 300 miles with the Keep the Beat Cycling Team to raise money for the Leicester Royal Infirmary Heart Unit at Glenfield.

This year the cycle challenge was to complete a 300 mile long journey in 24 hours. The starting point was The Anchor Pub in Burbage at 7am (nr. Hinckley in Leicestershire) ending at Watergate Bay (just north of Newquay in Cornwall). The team were given a great send off.

Way points:

* 12 noon – Cirencester

* 7pm – Cheddar Gorge

* 4am – Launceston

* 11am – Watergate Bay

“The weather was typically British, so a changeable and unpredictable blend of wind, drizzle, coolness and rain, which made the ride a bit gruelling but it was all worth it. Support for family, friends and supporters made it a pleasure, and so far Keep the Beat Cycling Team has raised more of the target – £44k,” said Richard.

Thanks to Adam Tansey , Bryan Lear, Ian Houghton, Andy Burton, Scott Dronsfield and Graham Rowntree for the brilliant event organisation. To donate to the cause please visit: link.

In 2015, Richard took part in the cycle challenge Coast to Coast In a Day which was a great success and the riders raised £50k. Read details in Issue 28 of The Wet End.
