Power Stations
Gas and nuclear power stations are often installed low in the ground to reduce their visual impact. These plants also generally require a deep sump and tunnels for cooling water supply and discharge. Energy from waste plants are also built low to reduce the visual impact and require extensive deep bunkers for the tipping, storage and recovery of the waste feed stock to the plant. These plants are often in environmentally sensitive areas and, particularly for nuclear plants, stringent health, safety and environmental control measures will apply at all stages of the works from planning and design through to construction. WJ has worked on many power station projects including Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station, gas power stations at Baglan in Wales, Immingham on Humberside, SELCHP in Deptford, London and Ardley Energy from Waste plant near Bicester.
