Thermal Response Tests
Thermal Response Tests (TRT) are used to determine the thermal properties of the ground. They are vital for helping develop cost effective designs for closed loop ground source energy systems.
A small portable test rig is used to inject a finite amount of heat energy into a closed loop test borehole over several days. During the test, observations are made about the incoming and outgoing temperatures of the heat transfer fluid, the flow rate of the fluid and the heat energy input.
Analysis of the data can determine thermal conductivity, heat capacity and borehole resistance.
How WJ Group Can Help
WJ has designed a unique TRT unit for thermal response testing. This allows for rapid installation and monitoring. Our expert management and on-site testing have vast experience in designing and installing TRT systems as well as recording, analysing and interpreting the results to provide you with a high quality service.
